Silas News - Spring 2008
This
is the first of our new series of regular e-newsletters to keep you
up to date with what is happening in the Silas Project, and with its supported workers in Turkey.
Prayer
Points
-
That the new Silas website will alert many to the need to support
Turkish Christian workers in all parts of Turkey. Please
also pray for wisdom for the web masters as they develop the site and launch it via a mailing to 1,500 churches.
-
That good long term support for Silas will result from recent and
planned Silas evenings at churches in the US and UK.
-
For Diyarbakir Church (led by Ahmet) in south east Turkey near Syria - for its youth work, its booklet and other outreach (particularly in Batman, Iskenderun and Mardin), for its spiritual warfare against believers' wounds from the past, black magic, and demonic oppression, and for several of its member who are seeking work. Give thanks for the church's very successful recent youth retreat - attended by over 50 young people.
-
For Antioch Christian Church (led by Hamdullah), also in south east Turkey at the top right corner of the Mediterranean Sea and about 270 miles from Diyarbakir - for a church building, for the church's outreach (particularly in Iskenderum and Samandagh, and amongst women), for the strengthening of believers in the church (particularly youth), for the conversion of fringe attendees, and for the health of pastor Hamdullah, still requiring monthly medical treatment for hepatitis.
- For the Turkish
believers who are being harassed almost daily in different parts of
the country, for change in the prejudiced anti-Christian attitude of many government and public agencies, and for all involved in the re-trial of those accused of the Malatya killings of three missionaries.

News
The
website is now operational at: www.silasproject.net - you can use the link at the bottom of
this email to access it. In the very near future we
will be launching the site to churches in Kent and
to Brethren Assemblies throughout the UK.
We
have held very successful 'Silas Evenings' at churches in
Wheaton and Wenatchee (US), and Motherwell (near Glasgow), Aberdeen, and Gloucester (UK), with Sevenoaks planned for 6 March.
Personal
News
Finally,
please pray for Yvonne as she prepares her inductive Bible studies
for women. She’s been asked to teach in three churches in
Turkey: Istanbul; Antioch; and Diyarbakir (both in the
south east, near Syria). We leave for Istanbul on March
18th. We appreciate your prayers so very much!
Yours in our King and Saviour,
Roger & Yvonne Malstead
